Tion Tsin, Aug. 1, via Chefoo, Aug. 3.?It is reported that the Chinese have broken the canal bank, Hooding the country be tween Tien Tsin and Pekin. Thirty thousand Boxers are eight miles north of Tien Tsin and a battle is imminent. London, Aug. 5.?Last night's dispatches add nothing 10 the ?< noral information concerning the progress of events in China. Although the agents of the cable company at Tien Tsin on July do asserted that the censorship of press dispatches had been aboiished, it is evident that correspondents are not allowed to cable any account of the advance in the direction of Pekin. According to a dispatch from Shanghai dated August 3 the principal opposition will be met 20 miles west of Tien Tsin where, it is stated, the Chinese nave erected extensive barriers and obstructions have been placed in the river. Mines are said to have been located under the railway, the line apparently being left intact. Sheng, the administrator of telegraphs and railways, objected to the measures taken for the defense of foreign settlements, the enrollment of volunteers and the presence of numerous warships and asked the foreign consuls to suspend these measures. The British consul replied by pointing out that the measures were only intended to strengthen the hands of the lawful Chinese auI li ni'i tion A dispatch from St. Petersburg dated Aiiiiiis? 4 snyy that Gen. Moziveski reports from Chita that a part of Gen. Orlolf's forces attacked and drove back the Chinese regulars on July 30, capturing one gun and a number of flag's and killing the Chinese commander and 200 men. The Russian loss was seven killed and 20 wounded. Reports from Berlin says that Prince Henry in .behalf of Emperor William, made the parting address bidding goodbye to the Fourth Fast Asian remO ment which sailed from Bremerhaven in the direction of China today. London, August 4.?Nothing direct from the allies operating beyond Tien Tsin is to hand, but a news agency dispatch from Shanghai today says a battle is expected Sunday with Gen. Mas and 10,000 Chinese at Yang Tsun. The Russian and French contingents, according to this dispatch, are guarding the communications of the Americans, British and Japanese who form the advancing column. A dispatch dated at Tien Tsin Friday, *27, says another dispatch from the British minister at Pekin, .Inly 21, has been received, duplicating in part one sent, by a different route, but adding the information that the British, American, Russian and German legations held on July 21 provisions barely sufficient for 14 days and that ammunition was short. The minister had again rejected the proposal of the Chinese government that they leave Pekin under escort of Chinese troops. Another courier from the Japanese legation brings a dispatch dated July 23, saying that but five days' provisions were left, and 25 rounds for each man. The British consul, Mr. Fra ser. and tho foreign community, are le^ivin? Chung Kintr, province of 8ze Chum, in consequence of an official warning from Shanghai.
