The Meeting at Kernhate.
The campaign mooting hole
at Kershaw, Tuesday, thougl
not .a regular schedule meeting
was well attended by botl
speakers and citizens of Kor
sliaw, Chesterfield, Chester ant
Lancaster counties. The atten
tion given the spoakers was
good and every candidate was
allowed to have his say without
interruption. The ladies of the
town of Kershaw presented Col
Hoyt with a silken banner
which he accepted most grace
fully.
During last May an infant child ol
our neighbor was suffering from
cholera infantum. The doctors had
given up all hopes of recovery,
I took a bottle of Chamberlain's
Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea
Remedy to the house, telling them I
felt sure it would do good if used according
to directions. In two dayt
time the child had fully recovered
The child is now vigorous and healthy.
I have recommended this remedy
frequently and have never known it
to fail.?Mrs. Curtis Haker, Uookwalter,

Hail S'orm Near t'nUg.
Mr. Abol Nelson, of the Unity
neighborhood, was in town
Friday and reports that there
was a very heavy wind and hail
storm in his section 011 last Sunday
afternoon. Several of the
f.armers sustained heavy loss,
A liml) from a tree near Mr,
Nelson's house was blown ofl
and driven through the weather
boarding about two feet above
the bed in which bis father was
lying at the time. The wind
apparently came from the north
east but several of the neigh
bors say it was directly from
the north. The supposition is
that it was of the whirl wind
nature as evidence shows. A
good many fruit trees were
blown down and damaged
One or two colored farmers will
suffer an almost entire loss ol
crop. The corn crop?as re
ported?seems to lie damaged
more than cotton.

Money Found.
Some weeks ago Mr. Hugh It,
Blakeney, who lives in the Gills
Creek section lost a. sum ol
money amounting to #45. He al
once offered a reward tor its re
turn, hut for some time did not
hear anything of it. Several days
ago he had reason to suspect that
Elliott Thomas, colored, whc
lives with him had the money,
Mr. Blakeney began to watch foi
results, and on Tuesday night,
heard the negro and his wife
counting the money. Wednes
day morning Mr. Blakeney had a
warrant sworn out and Constable
Connor promptly arrested the
negro, who Rtrenously denied the
charge. A search warrant was
obtained and without very little
trouble, using means usually em
ployed in such cases, the money
was obtained. The nogro's wife
wast asked to give up the
money, which she very prompti..

money was hid in between the
logs of the house, and it would
have been very hard to find unless
by some one familiar with its
whereabouts. The amount seeur

of the money spent. Mr. Blake

were also found along with the
money.
