account of the proceedings.
The Taxhaw school, taught a

cation) opened its summer ses- rl
sion July 17th, 1899, and after j,
about six or seven weeks it sus- (|
pended for six weeks, during
the busy gathering season, but
reopened on October 16th, and e
continued in regular session
until Friday night, May 18th, j
at which time the students gave <1
a very interesting exhibition, ?
consisting of speeches, recitations,
dialogues, music, &c., in s
which the students reflected
great credit both to themselves
and teachers. * J
The crowd began to assemble ?.
at the academy about sunset, *
and when the hour arrived for j,
the exercises to begin, the large *
and commodious building was t
packed to overflowing and there *
were a great many that could
not be accommodated. a
The exercises lasted for about J.1

found anywhere and all retired
to their homes seemingly satisfied
