Heath Spring*' Happenings.
Mr. Editor: Not having seen
anything from the Springs in
some time, will endeavor to give
you a brief synopsis of the happenings
of the town.
Guano, guano, and some more
guano! is the cry to be heard on
every hand these days. The meet
ings of the farmers on the fertili
zer question does not seem to
lessen the quantity purchased
one whit, but if we are to judge
of the amount purchased, by the
way the roads are cut up by the
hauling, there seems to be more
of the "stuff" hauled away than
ever before, at least from this
place.
, Mr. A. L. AJobley has purchased
the stock of goods of 1*. T. Cauth
en and moved from the A.
Cauthen building into that of P.
T. Cauthen.
Mr. J. W. Creed has entered the
list of our merchants, and is lo
ated at the old Horton stand.
Mr. Ed. Crenshaw has charge of
the store.
Mr. O. W. Clark has one of the
most attractive stores in the
town, since he has added to his|
building and had it painted inside.
Mr. A. P. Brown and his milli
nor, Miss Bell Thompson, are both
in New York looking after bargains.
Dr. W. S. Moore is having a
nice residence put up on main
street, just below the corner of
Spring.
Rev. Chalmers Moore is some
better and the doctors say if he
cm retain his nourishment there
is no reason why he should not
recover. This is certainly good
uews to his many friends and acquaintances.
Miss Anna Tray wick gave a
most delightful musicale, one
night last week, to a few of her
friends.
Rev. (J. B. Query, representing
the Publication Committee ol
The Southern Presbyterian
church in the synod of South Car
olina, spent several days here
last week.
Cotton has reached 9 23 on this

It seems that the railroad people
never intend putting np a
depot at this place. The present
arrangement of putting freight in
a box car, is very unsatisfactory
to all conceined, while there is
no place for passengers to wait.
It is nothing short of criminal
negligence to force ladies and
children to stand out in the cold
and rain waiting for a train with
not even a box car to go in otf
the damp ground. Add to this the
delay of the traina?from 20min
utea to two hours?all of which
time ladies have no place to wait
out of the weather. This is o
fancy picture as the writer hap
seen thin thing happen again and
again. Elouisk.
