The senate spent the whole day
discussing Senator Muuldin's
broad tire bill. Considerable op
position was shown to it and
amendments were offered and
rejected, including one exempt
ing about fifteen counties from its
operations, as passed it prohibits
the sale of narrow tired wagons
after .January, 1901, but the use
of the latter may continue until
January, 1904, when broao tiros
must be used. In the mean time
persons who use the broad tiros
are to be exempted from road
duty and commutation tax. A
penalty of $5 or .$15 or thirty
^ days imprisonment is provided

Senator Graydon introduced a
dispensary bill, making the State
/ board of control consist ot the
Secretary of State, Comptroller
General and the Superintendent
of Education. The county boards
are to be abolished and dispensers
are to be appointed by the Governor
who may remove them (or
sufficient cause. The commissioner
is to be elected by the legislature,
must give a surety bond
of $75,000 and may be removed

and Littlefield, rep. Lanhan
and Miere, democrats, voted
with the majority. The reports
