Our merchants have been ex- <
ceeciinply busy recently waiting >
on tlie trade. The stores that carry
fancy poods, .jewelry, Arc.,
have had all they could do during }|
the days and well into the niphts.
The business in furniture this fall
has been immense, as well as in

shoes and dry ooods of all kinds.
We believe our farmers are more
hopeful and in bettor spirits than
they have been for years. There ^
has been less complaint of hard ^
times this fall than we have heard a]
for a lonp time. Most of peo- (j
pie have been able to pay up H
their bills, or nearly so, and have C
plenty of hop and hominy to run 0
on next year. This is calculated ?
