will be interesting to know what
a cotton market Lacaster proved
to be last year. There were 13,687
bales marketed here fronr
September 1st, 1898 to August
31st, 1899, the largest sales evei
reached in any previous year.

A charter has been applied for

Mr. Editor:?Please allow me
a short space in your paper as
Dwight people are very dull over
the sorry crops and dry weather.
But, we are thankful, as it is rain
ing to day.
The health of Dwight section
is very good.
We are sorry to sav that Mr.
W. McManus had the misfortune
to receive a very had cut, on his
hand, one day last week ; he is
getting along very well. Dr. Elliott
dressed the wound.
Crops, in this section, are very
good considering the dry weather.
| Glad to say that we have good
schools in and around Dwight.
We are sorry to know that Mr.
Hushell Plyler has left us and
none to the Lancaster Cotton
Mill. I know some of the girls
will hate to hear of his departure,
but don't cry, for I heard him say
he would come back?by and by.
I think more of our boys will
leave soon; we wish them all
great success in life.
No marriages at present but
think there will be soon.
