Painful Accident.
Monday evening while Mr.
Columbus Oauthen was being
assisted from the train he was let
down a little too sudden, and
very painfully hurt. The foot of
his chair striking the ground first
causing a sudden jar, which
sprained one of his ankles. While
there is no serious injuiy he was
very painfully hurt, but he will
he able to be out in a few days

Mrs. Nettie Harris, wife of Mr"
J. C. Harris, and daughter of Mr.
T. 1). Caskey, of Heath Spring
died at her home a few miles
south of the town of Heath
Spring of Erysipelas, Monday
evening. She had been sick quite
a white and suffered a great deal.
Her remains will h? interred at
the Beaver Creek cemetery alter
funeral services conducted by
Rev. S. N. Watson, of Lancaster,
Tuesday evening.

Th e Deacon a Success.
The Deacon, the comedy presented
to a large house here Friday
evening, the 19th was a creat
success*. All the players did their
part bo well that it would be difficult
to say which one did best.
The manner of presentation showed
most careful preparation and
in some "instances real, genuine
dramatic talent. A better pl<tfc
by amateurs we have never seefT
The play was thoroughly enjoyed
by all present and all the house
spoke in most favorable terms of
the work done.
The proceeds about $12.25 will
go to the library of the Lancaster
Graded School. This will be
a nice little sum devoted to a
most worthy cause.
So successful was the play that
the players will play in Kershaw
tonight (Tuesday.)

way, to soothe the couch of the
sick, and cheer the drooping
spirits of the disconsolate, like
the delicate violet screening itself
from pomp and show and rather
inclined to manifest its presence

Her imposing personality injthe
prime of young womanhood, and
