Charleston Tost, was in the city
yesterday making arrangements
for the transportation ol portraits
in the senate chamber to the
Charleston reunion. The portraits
to be taken are those of
Gens. Gordon, Gray, Butler and
Kershaw. The reunion commit
tee already has a portrait ot Gen.
Hampton. Besides these other
valuable Confederate relics belonging
to the state will be taken
to Charleston. All of this will
be insured and will be packed for
shipment under the direction of

of good roads to know that not
only is highway const ruction
taught in the engineering courses
of Clemson college, hut there is
also to be built an actual example
of modern macadam road from
this college to the Southern rail
way station. All the college

face it is often in such condition
as to require two horses to haul

It is learned with regret that
Dr. Anderson, professor of hot
any, has resigned his chair in the
conoge to accept a similar position

Dr. Anderson is a young man well
prepared and thoroughly earnest
in his work. Minnesota is to be
congraulated.
