While on their way from Lancaster
on Tuesday afternoon of
Inst week, a ditlienlty arose between
.Messrs. James Threatt, A.
C. MeManus John Parker and
John (James when the ready ]>is- ,
tol was brought into requisition
nnd in which McManus and Carnos 1
were shot, the former by Threatt
and the latter by Darker. It was
the outcome of too much liquor. '
They were all neighbors and got
into a quarrel which resulted in
the use of pistols with the ell'ect |
aforesaid. McManus was wound I <
ed in the left breast, the ball L
passing around and lodging in the ]
back near the surface. It was cut
out bv Dr. R. <r. Klliott. ATr. ,
Cnrnes' wound was in the arm. ;
^ l'arker's vest was cut by a knife I
- and his hat had the marks of a j <
pistol ball. The ditliculty occurred ('
beyond the poor house, near Mr. '
