Magistrate Burns' court heard the case of against Sallie Dye. both colored, for assault and battery Monday. When tiie Magistrate inquired of the defendant if she wished a jury, she replied in the aflirmat ive,adding that she wanted "justice" The jury was empaneled and after hearing the case,they unanimously and promptly voted "guilty." She was sentenced to .'10 days on the chain gang or pay a fine of $11.10. She promptly paid the fine.
