Florence Daily Times. Published Evkky Afternoon Ex cept Sunday. DJRR S BRURSOR, Proprietors. The Weather IniUatlon*. The Weather Bu reau force :sts for this section arc ah follows: Generally /'”> to night and to-morrow; colder. Our legislators are working to gether in perfect harmony. I wo weeks of the session have slipped away, in which questions have been discussed solely upon their merits. There has bet n no refer ence to party affiliations, and not a single appeal to factional feeling has been made. We record this with satisfaction, and most earn estly hope that after adjournment it will not be necessary to change the record. YI.S, I’ITtl.lMII TH1.M. We note with pleasure that Mr. Janies Henry Rice, Jr., lias had a conference with the public record commission regarding the publica tion in condensed foira of our colonial records. These records are copies in manuscript of records in the Master of Roils palace, London, made by Mr. W. Noel Saintslmry of England. They are in 36 volumes, averaging about 300 pages per volume, and cover the history of South Carolina from its settlement to the Revolution. The work of condensation will, be difficult, but Mr. Rice is well suited for it. He has pored over “many a quaint and curious vol ume of forgotten lore” in a search after historical truth, and is famil iar with these records because he indexed them. He is patient and accurate, and willing to do all in big power to give to the public a readable book. Here then is a man ready to do the work, so let the work be done. The book would be of inestimable value. It would throw f a flood of light on our colonial history, and light is what we want. We hope the legislature will make whatever appropriation may be necessary in order to place in the hands of our people the substance of this rich store of historical inform ition.
