-The Christma~s :rade has been
larger this year than for many years r
past, and the merchaats have every a
reason to feel cheerful. Saturday and c
Monday the streets were literally
thronged, and although the crowd
consisted principally of negroes, they
all seemed to be spending money very
freely and the stores all look practi

many of our young pecple has brought
pleasure to almost every house; and
the last Christmnas of this century will
be long remembered by many as being
one of the brightest and happiest of

-The Christmas tree given by the
ladies of the A. R. P. Chareh in the
armory on Friday night was in every
respect a great success. The tree
which was a very large one was a mass
of brilliant light- nd interesting look
ing packages, and was a delight to the
crowd- of children. The large and
roomy armory was crowded by young
people and there were a number of
older people also who thoroughly en
joyed the hippiness of the children.
The receipts amounted to about $50
but how much of this is clear t be
ladies are not -yet able to say, as the
expenses have not been summed up.
1t is expected, however, thaL a large
part of this amount will be clear gain,
as the expenses are not thought to be
heavy.
