Come at once. ady Mnlli&in, the Photographer. DEATH OF MR. ROBERT McCARLEY. On Thursday Mr. Jno. D. McCarley received ti-e sad news of the death of his father, Mr. Robert McCarley, who died at the residence of his niece, Mrs. Mary Daffle, at Smith's Tuirnoul, in York County. Be was .seventy eight years old at the time of his death. He had been suffering with rheum>i tism for so.ne time, besides he was subject to choking spells; but the imn? mediate cause of his death was heart disease. Mr. McCarley wa, in the Hampton Legion and was captured by the Yan kees near Blackstock along with his son, Jno. D. McCarlcy, Timtnehy liar den and others from Fairfield Ceunty. He rau a narrow escape, as lhe had a passport in his pocket to bring his blood-hounlds from one section to an other when captured and it would have gene hard with bim had it not been for the presepce of mind of his son who procured and destroyed the paport. The prisoners were con d.3mned to be shot at Lancaster, but word reached Gen. Hampton, who had many Yankee prisoners, and he sent word that if they were shot he would kill two for every one of our men. When this threat came the o:cer was revoked. Mr. Robert McCar:ey was released, but the others were kept rntil they got to Weldon, N. C.. where Gun. Hampton dashed up in the rear and releasd every man, so'me on both sides being killed. Tne deceased was a consistent menm ber of Cencord1 Church for a long time before his death and his remains were buried there on Friday.
