FROMf A SVBSCIBEII Mr. Editor: Dear old friend: The 27th of July is near at hand, the time to renew my bubscription for another year. THE NEWS AND IERALD i9 a welcome visitor here every Friday at 12 o'clock. I hardly ever cat dinner on Friday until I go to the postoffice. We have fine crops this year, I don't think I ever saw better. Corn, cotton, sorghum, ribon cane, peas, potatoes, and oats are very good; wheat, very little sown. Cotton crops have been cut down to about one third the amount we gene rally plant. Our people seem to be roused up out of the btnpor they were in last winter, and throughout the spring. They are beginning to wear a smile on their faces and it looks like the war is over. We all got home and nobody killed. Mr. Editor, you will find enclosed one dollar and four bits, to 'renew my subscription. Success to Tr. NEwS AND HERALD. J. A. ROBERTSON. Rlf's Bluff, Lincoln Co., Ark., July 20th 1895. A NEAT HOME AND MODEL FARM. Mr. Editor: During my recent visit to your county I had the pleasure of enjoying the hospitality of Mrs. S. F. DuBose and her son Samuel DuBose in her new boise just below Simpson's. The house i- very pretty and comfort able-built is a substantial and work manlike manner. Mrs. DuBose was unstinted in her praise of J. D. Smart, the contractor and builder, who, she said, had done his work cheaply and to her entire satisfaction. As this is so unusual in matters of this kind, I thought this contractor must be a para gon in his way and his merits should be advertised and rewarded by eon stant employment. Mr. DuBose is reveling in the enjoy ment of possessing the finest cotton and carn crop in the country, and it is certainly magnifi ent. On his whole place there is not enough grass to supply the poultry-everything is worked so clean. The cows and hogs are skek and fat. The building and outhouses are nicaly painted and whitewashed, and all the surroundings indicate the presence and control of a model farmer. TISITon. August 1, 1895. Free Pills.
