Childs heard a burglar in his house in
Columbia and attempted to shoot him.
Ho fell, however, and the pistol dis
charged a bullet in his arm, causing
only slight flesh wound. He was at
his business as usual. le did not
know he was shot until he saw his
shirt ei fire.

TEACHERS WILL MEET.-There will
be a meeting of 'the executive com
mittee of the Teachers' Association of
this county at the office of the School
Commissioner ona Monday, the 27th
inst., at 11 o'clock to prepare a pro
gram for the meeting of this associa
tion, which is to take place on the 31st.

The Ridgeway Rifles were inspecte

There was a wreck at Campbeli's
three miles below Ridgeway, on Sun
day morning, caused by a broker
wheel. Five gondola cars belonging
to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroat
were wrecked. They were loadee
with iron rails for the Angusta an
Sandersville road. A negro felt unde
the gendolas but, strange to say, eb
caed unhurt. No one was hurt at all
