We read in the State of Friday that Miss Mamie Macfie, Miss Haight and several others were thrown from a vehicle in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Miss Haight was thought to be dyingt at last account, but we are glad to learn that Miss Macfie's injuries are 1 not so serious as was thought at first. We are truly sorry to hear of so un fortunate an occourrence. Found Her Children.--They were Lost Before the War. At the south-bound train on Friday1 there was an old colored woman named Fannie Taylor. She had lived in Winnsboro for a number of years, ~ut had disappeared from here for .some months, when she turned up about eighteen months ago. A strange colored man was at the depot with her nd purchased two tickets for the same point in Alabama. From the couple we learned this story: Old Aunt Fannie says that her master, a Mr. Taylor, became very much in volved in debt and in the night time left this county taking with him five of her children, the youngest being not quite five years old. She despaired of ever hearing from them, but about a mionthi or six weeks ago one of the girls wrote a letter to Capt. W. N. Mason asking about old aunt Fannie. Capt. Mason conferred with Mr. Mc Uride Smith, of this town, and the old woman was thus put ini comumunica tiononwith her lost children. This col ored man had married one of the ghters and had come out prepared t e aid womian back to her children. There are four girls and one boy. They are not all living to gether, but they said there would be io troubJe in finding the others as they wee~ Stote of Alabama. This o ; has never heard a word fro -. of them since the night Sthey were taken out of this county. h tol ou reporter that she never expected to return to South Carolina again. Her son Ferris Davis works in a blacksmith shop in Chester, and he worked here years ago for Mr. A. F. Gooding. She informed us that Fer 'is did not know of her finding her ther children nor of her departure. So in her old age Ohe will rest with those who have been separated from her for many long years. The colored man, her son-in-law, bore a good face and appeared to be an honest straight forward fellow. DEATH OF A FORMER RESIDENT. Mrs. Martha S. Parker, who form erly lived in Winnaboro, died at the residence of her brotber-in-law, Capt. W. N. Mason, en Thursday eveniug at 5 o'clock. Mrs. Parker lived in Winns boro for quite a number of years. Her husband, Mr. G. W. Parker, conducted a tailoring business in town for a long period of time. Mrs. Parket was a ister of Mrs. C. H. Scruggs and Mrs. W. N. Mason and bad many friends ere in Winnsboro. She was about sixty-two years old at the time of her death. One brother, Mr. John An drews, lives in Richland and another in Alabama. Ier remains were in terred at the family burying ground on Friday. MR. WILLIAMS' FUNERAL. The remains of Mr. Eugene Williams were laid to rest in the Presbyterian :hurchyard Thursday morning at 10 >'clock. In the absence of the pastor, Dr. Jordan, Rev. W. S. Stokes, of the Ifethodist Church, conducted the fune 1l services. The following relatives of the young nan were present: 'Mrs. M. J. Sligh, dliss Alma Williams, sisters of the de eased; Mrs. Caroline Miller, Mrs. T. H. LyBiaud and Mrs. E. C. HIartin. dr. and Mrs. Sligh accompanied the remains from Florida; the other rela :ives mentioned reside in this State. 2nite a concourse of town people at ended the burial. Mr. Williams had been apparently vell up to one day before his death. le was only sick one day and a part of , night. His sudden taking off adds o the general sadness of such bereave en's, and he being the only brother nakes it doubly hard on the sorrowing isters. The following gentlemen acted as all-bearcrs: J. W. Saini and daughter, .finnie, of Orangeburg, are visiting -elatives in Longtown. Politics in this section are very quiet. rhe Longtown club reorganized on he 3rd inst. with 110 members. While we 1 like Mr. Roseborough, we think hat the .Albion club has now State 3enator and a member of the House ud one county commissioner, and it ould look too much like Edgefield to )ring all the candidates from one ection of the corntry.
