Information was received in Wians
boro Monday of a deplorable affair
that took place in Charlote Monday
morninz between two prominent cl.1
zens of that city. Ovr information is
that Mr. Fred Oliver, president of the
Charlette Oil and Fertilizer Works,
shot and it is feared fatally wounded
Mr. Jabcz Myers, traveling salesman
for E. S. Jaffray & Co., of New York.
The affair took place on one of the
principal streets of the city. Mr.
Myers %-as shot twice-in the arm and
mouth. The ball that penetrated the
arm shattered the bone so that ampu
tation was at once necessary. The
second shot entered the mouth and
ranged upward, this shot being the one
that is most feared. The cause of the
trouble was not leat ned, but it is said
'o hare had its origin at a german
given by Mr. Myers at Morehead City
in July. Both parties arc well known
in Winnsboro.
