Gradu y.yecoming worse a physician was ummpned, who found the child in a rofound stupor, which- continued up b'the moment of his death. There is ;o question that he was killed by the se of cigarrettes, and only boys rithout brains can hope to escape ajury from the same cause. OANOERoUs BRIDGES. -We learned Mro a gentleman of the Wateree sec on on Monday, that'Turner's bridge ver Wateree creek, is in a very unsafe endition. It has been posted as in dangerous condition for three or ur months past, and while some little atching has been done on the floor, it still in a very unsafe condition. hne gentleman in coming to town on [ouday would not cross on horse ack, but got down and walked over. 'he condition of this bridge, we are iformed, has kept considerable cotton 'om this market, simply bbcause citi ans ware afraid to cross with loaded ragons. From a gentleman residing ear the Douglass bridge, over Little |iver, we learn that it too is in an nsafe condition, but that our County ommissioners will, at an early day, egin work on it. We are sure that it only. necessary to call the attention f the Commissioners to have the ridges put in first-class order. ATTEMPTED INOENDIARY.-A well iid plan to burn the dwelling of a itizen of this town was discovered on 'riday night last. Everything was in eadiness for the mutcb, but the incen lary was evidently disturbed in his rork. Some little time after dark the idy of the house had occasion to visit er pantry, and when she entered she iscovered a strong odor of kerosene. Ipon the return of her husband, rhich was only a few minutes after rards, an examination was made. he floor of the room was found to be horongbly saturated with kerosene, nd in one corner a small pile of chips iso thoroughly saturated was found, nd in fact everything was in readi tess for the match, which could have een applied through a cat hole in one orner of the door. The gentleman aforms us that kerosene is never kept a this pantry, and that nolne could ave' been accidentally spilled there. 'he party, whoever he was, has evi ently forgotten that a few years back so occupants of this dwelling was itimately connected with a certain cap-gun, that succeeded in wounding burglar who was afterwards cap ired and convicted. We would mildly suggest that this would-be in Indiary had better not repeat the ttempt, as the next time the guni will e set to kill. A CAR..
