The 1armers' Meeting. The Farmers' Club met in the Court House Saturday, l9th,abouttwenty-flv members being present. Mr. T. 8. Brice, President, in a short address stated that the object of this move ment was widely misunderstood. lie disclaimed any intention on the part of the organization of arraying one class against another. It was simply for the betterment of the agricultural interest. 'Tha chief opposition came from ante.bellurn politicians and the press. Referring to THE NEWs AND HERALD he thought. After this address nominations were made for delegates to the Staste Farm ers' Convention. At the suggestion of Mr. J1. M. Stewart each nominee expreissed his cpinion as to the Agricul tnral College and Department of Ag riculture. - Mr...T. WV. Traylor was not pre pared to speak on either subject. Maj. T. W. Woodward wanted the college, at thMs time opposed to any meddling with,.the department. Mr. J. M. Galloway was' not pre pared to say, wanted more time for study. --- Mr. T.. P. Mitchell was not pre pared to speak about the college, but did favor reorganization of the agri cultural department. Mr. J. B. Thurner. non-committal as to both. Mr. T. B. MoKinstry favors college if expedlent. Opposed: to-roorganiza tion of agricultural. departmnent, but would so vote If it was thought best. Mr. R. Y. Lemmon in fav9r of col lege, not prepared to. speak e to the Dopartnient. Mr. D. P. C7rosby.umeomm'itted as to both college and department. The following wvere elected: Messrs. Turner, Traylor, Gloway, Lemmon and Mitohell. A motion endorsing If. L. D~onald sen -as Commissioner of ' Agriculture was adopted, but not without'dissent. The president resigned as he be lieved he had served long enough. On motion of Maj. Woodward he was unanimously re-elected by acclama tion, as were the other old officers.
