--A slight obsnge in the schedule of

--The visitors to Washington from
Winngboro returned Friday afternoon.
They express 'themselves as having
spent a delightful time in the national
' capital.
-Columbia is to have a now cotton
seed oil mill erected by the new com
pany in opposition to the Oil Trust
Company. Its capacity will be'200 tons
seed per day.
-Mr. J. M. Beaty has had erected
a lhandsome Iron stairway and iron
balcony on the south of his building,
which adds much to the appearance as
woll as convenience of the building.
-The Lee, Light Infantry, of Ches
ter, carried with them on their Wash
ington trip 'the old flag carried by the
Palmetto Regiment in the Mexican
war. It attracted considerable atten
tion In Washington.
-The Rev. J. Howard Carpenter
having taken ili on his way to Louis
ville, Ky., has returned home. We
are glad to state that he is improv
ing, and will [preach at the Baptist
Church to-morrow at 11 a. m., and 8A
p.m.

stalk of cotton measuring eighteen

squares. He has seven. acres that will
average this height. He reports the
crops in his neighborhood better than

the graded schools of Columbia for the
Dresent session Is 868, colored 768, '

A MOONLIGHT ExoURsioN. - The
Deutsche Eintrachts Bund will give a
moonlight excursion in the first part
of July. All the Germans of Fairfld
county' are invited as the guests of the

encampment, to be held in Spartan
burg beginning the 2nd August, has

him and the militia of the State to
attend. They want the military, and
tlie.hospitality of the city .will be ox- 1
tended if they will only be present.
This would be a very pleasant iWay to
