into service for the war as Company F,
Twelfth Regiment, S. C. V., Seplomber 5,
1861, and served with the devotion of the
true patriot until he wits detailed in 1862 as
ward master in ,ackson llospital, in .ilch
mond, because of age and physical infirl
ties, and remained there until discharged
in 1864 for tite sam r1eatsons. Returning
to his home he was again placed Oil light
duty and did not restino the usual avoca
tions of his life until the close of t; e war,
during which, in -coisenclice of unavoid
able exposure, he became a. great rufferer
tfrom rheuniatismu, and In 1876 was stricken
with paralysis, and was in an almost help
less condition until his death, J une 8, 1881.

two daughters-survive and lament him;
therefore,- .

the Supreme Ruler, deeply lament the
death of our brother, the respected and
