The result of the first match (possible r score 50) was as follows: Charleston, 41; Columbia, 31; St. Matthews 86; I Fort. Motto, 37; Be6lvillo, 29; Orange burg No. 1, 43; Orangeblurg No. 2, 3 34; Winnsboro, 41. The sorub team r made 25. The Winnsboro score was r as follows: R. J. McCarjey 8, 11. B. 3 McMaster 8. A. M. Wallace 8, J. S. Elder 9, J. N. Center 8. The first prize, $70 in gold, was therefore awarded to Orangeburg No. 1, the second, $35, was divided between Charleston and Winnsboro, and the I third, $17.50, was awarded to Fort Motto. The first sweepstakes prize, $28, was won by Hall, of Charleston; the second, $14, by Center, of Wins boro; and the third, $7, by Furman, of Charleston. On Thursday the pigeon-shooting match came off, with the following result: Winnsboro, out f of 20 possible, made 17, wInning the first prize, $70. The two Orangeburg teams made a tie of 16, and divided second money, $35. Charleston scored 13, and won the third prize, $17.50. The pigeon sweepstakes resulted in Major Hugh S. Thompson, of Colum r bin, winning first money-the balance not decided. The whole affair, was admirably managed. and everybody had a fine time. Hurrah for the Boro! TiE HIPPOPOTAMUS OF THE CANAL. -No ainial was more enthusiastic in the enterprise of resoring the girafre and trick ntle to the show than the f hiippopotinus. This wild and form idable animal, through his relations with the girafde, had succeeded in ob taining the entire range of the Erie canal, and his influence with the water rats was immense.
