MAILROAD SCHEDUE.-The trains!
now pass Winnsboro as follows:
North-bound passenger, 12.28 p. im.;
south-bound, 4.28 p. n.; north-bound
freight, 9.05 a. in.; south-bound, 1.37
p. in. These arrivals are on the basis
of Railroad time. sixteen minutes
faster than Winnsboro time.

TniE CorroN CASE.-The Columbia
3orrespondent of the News and Cou
rier says: "Mr. N. B. Barnwell, mas
ter in equity, has been taking evidence
i the case of M. L. Bonham, railroad
:ommissioner, agalust the Charlotte,
Columbia and Augusta Railroad Com
pany. This case, which was well
known a year ago, Involves the right
of the railroad to charge for cotton
freights by measurement. It was de
,ided in the negative by Judge Mae
key, but overruled by the Supreme
Dourt and remanded to the court be
low with Instructions. In accordance
with them, the court referred the case
to the Master to take testimony as to
whether cotton was considered freight
chargeable by weight or measurement
in 1846, when the charter of the road
was granted, and report his findings
aind the testimony to the court. The
Master has examined tenl witnesses
here and will cantinue the examina
tion at Winnsboro on Monday. As up
to this point the testimony taken
proves that cotton was charged neith
er by weight nor measurement in 1846,
but only at a price per bale, the inves
Ligation will not result in much but
mother quandary."
