Tug.GonDONs AT SPARTANBUR.
Most of our readers know that the
Gordon Light Infantry were present
at the recent celebration of the 'Cow
i pens Centennial at Spartanburg. On
their way through Columbia on the
evening of the 10th, they were received
by the Richland Volunteer Rifle Comn
pany, and escorted to the Grand Cen
tral hotel, where they were very hand
soinely entertained. In the parade at
Spartanburg they were assigned to the
right of the Palmetto Regiment, being
Company A, and were hlghly cotpli
mented on their flie appearance and
soldierly bearing. They had present
more men than any other company of
the regiment, and as many active
aenmbers as any command in the whole
procession. The company arrived
home safely on Thursday, somewhat
jaded and fatigued, but in good spirits.
The trip was a pretty hard one, but
.most of the boys are ready for another.
