pleasure that we undertake to write to
you, knowing full well the great inter
est you have always manifested to
wards this portion of our county.' Our
neighborhood is blessed with general
good health. The farmers are all alive
to their supposed interest--planting
heavily the "flcecy staple." Many are
very backward and will not finish this
month. Fertilizers of various kinds
have been used to a greater extent than
heretofore. A big crop cotton Is antici
patedand laborers in some places are
scarce, and in great demuand. There
are many acres of good lands now in
woods anud lclds, that would furnish
happy homes to thrifty immigrants.
The people generally think that the
fence law will In the future be of great
benefit to then, but it is a new thing
as vet.
On last Friday evening an amateur
company entertained our community
with a series of charades, the llay be
ing "Who is to Win Him?" The
characters represented were: Squire
B3rusleigh, by Mr. Arthur Perry; Mlr.
Prattleton Prinrose (an old bachelor
inl love with the ladies) by P. HI. Flan
nigan; Cyril Dashwood (a young ofli
cer loved by the ladies) by Mr. James
S. Sykes; Rose Brusleigh (the squire's
daughter) b Lizzie Williams; Sylvia,
Arabella, Musidore and Minnette
(nieces of Brusleigh) by Misses Ettie
Simmons, Lily Brown, Emma Keinne
dv and Belle Edwards, respectively.
T'he scene duringo the greater part of
the play is at the country home of
Squire Brusleighi, an E nglIsh farmer,
with the usual attendant servants.
The second play was entitled "My
Sister's Husband," in two acts,
supported by the followiing cast

Theorem, represented by Mr. Rob
ert Williams; Jimmie Colson, by
Mr. Luther Kelly; John, a ser
vant, by Mr. James S. Sykes; Aunt

loveliness, sweetness, innlocenlce and
weak ness, wvere fully p~ortrayed. Great
credit is due to Miss LilyJ Brown, wvho
was indlefatigable in her efforts;, and
as the artful Arabella and the inimita
ble Aunt Mairy, she wvon repeated ap
plause. The audience retleed to
their homne, all having spent a pleas
ant evenin~r. The voung folks tripped
''the light fiintastice' until the ''wee
sma' hours." I omitted to say that
Ridgeway and Korshawv wer8 wvell
represented.
