busy on the farms.
-Colonel Rion was in Charlotte last

-The legister says that a number
of Fairfield farmuers were in Columbia
on Saturday, buying their supplies.
-The registration of voters for the
municipal election was as follows:
White, 110; colored, 64; tolal, 174.
-Services were held In the Episco
pal and the Mothodist church on Sun
day. The other churches were closed.
-Mr. J. M. R. Moore, of Lancaster,
who lived soie years lit Winnsboro,
was in town on Monday attending to
private business.
-The employment of lady clerks In
the dry goods stores has been com
menced in Columbia. The custom
has not yet reached Winnsboro.
-The Gordon Light Infantry are
getting realy to celebrate the anniver
sary early In May. The arrangements
have not been completed, but it is
probable that there will be a plume
drill and at comnl)Iy supper.
-The Hon. D. Wyatt Aiken has
been serlously ill at his home at Cokes
bury for some days. Ilis coilition
was at last accounts very critical, but
his )hsicianl was hopeful ofhis re
covery. Colonel Aiken has many
friends in Fairfleld, who earnwstIV
h'pe that he may soo be restort d to
heath.

the afflavit of the county treasurer,
they recommend that the solicitor be
instructed to enforce the Act of De
coinber'24, 1880, further regulatilig the
sale of intoxicating liquors. Tihey ap
pend a list of those liquor dealers who
have not paid their State license tax.
These compose about three-fourth of
the total number in the city.
BURNT TO DEATL.-On Monday Re
na Aiken, daughter of David C. Aiken,
colored, was seized 'with an epileptic
fit, and fell into the fire, and was burn
ed to death before she was discovered.
David's friends will be very sorry to
hear of his loss.
MUJNICIPAL ELECTION.-The munici
pal election passed off quietly on Mon
day. On;y 109 votes were dast, with
the following result:
For Intendant-J. J. Neil, 109.
For Wardes-J. F. McMaster 108;
G. B. Dunn, 108; R.J.1McCarley, 108;
F. Georig 100. Scattering, 6. The
scratching was done by coored voters.
THE Docrouts OF' THlE STATE.--The
annual meeting of the South Carolina
Medical Association willl be held in
Newvberry on the 19th inst., and thle
presence of all the physicians of South
Carolina, irrespective of the fact
whether they do or do not belong to
the society, Is desired. The meeting
is expected to be of unusual interest
and of great public Importance, as pa
poe have been prepared by members
ont many subjects,- and especially on
such as relate to the sanitary condition
of the State, and of the cities and
towns within its limits. Fairfield will
be represented by Drs. T1. T.\ Robert
son, R. B. ilanahan and E. W. Aiken,.
