PRESSLY. -The Rev. Neill Erskine Pressly, the Missionary of the Associate Reformed Church to Mexico, arrived at this place on last Wednesday. It was a most agreeable surprise to all of his relatives and friends-none of whom had the least intimation of his coming until the arival of the traiu at the depot. It will be remembered that more than two years ago Ur. Pressly was happily united in martlage to Mrs. It. E. Rosborough, a daughter of Mr. Henry L. Elliott, one of our most esteemed fellow-citizens. A few weeks afterwards the missionary family, con sisting of Mr. and Mrs. Pressly and Mary. and Jennie Rosborough, the daughters of Mrs, Pressly, left for their future home in Mexico. ]hey went first to the City of Mexico, where Mr. Pressly was to prepare himself for his labors by acquainting himself with the manners, tho customs and the language of the country. Af ter a year sient in the City of MexIco, he selected Tampico as his field of labor; and for the last year or more lie has been devoting his whole time and energy to the sacred work in which he was engaged. lie has had to endure many trials and hardships besides the great labors that devolved upon him; but it is hoped that much has been done towards chris tianizing and instructing many of the benighted inhabitants of tile country around Tampico. Mrs. Presslv re turned home last October with the children, and since that time Mr. Pressly has ocenpied, by invitation, part of the Consular buildings in Tampico, with the American Consul, whose wife also returned to the States. Thus with the stars and stripes float ing over him lie would feel perfectly safe, and more at .home than else where; while the circumstances in which they were placed would create a mutual sympathy between him and the Consul which would be very pleas ant to both of theim. Mr. iressly will remain in this place until next I week, when he will go to North Caro Ilina to visit his father and family. He wvill spend at least six wveeks in this country before returning to Mexico. IWe welcome him to his native land, and hope that hiappliness and success may ever rest upon him and his famnily. 4OUANO ! GUANOI!
