a sudden lethargy seemed to overtake

The few wvho retained consciousness
set themselves -at work to resuscitate
their coumpanionis, but without avail.

young people, died next day. The
young girl, Emnma Peters and Kate
LOWey , die&ithin twenty-four hours.
C"olone Date and his wife are very
low, and their death Is momentarily
expected.- The cause of the tragcdy
was the use of arsenic instead of salt
in seasoning the chickens. Colonel
Dale purchased, a qutmntity of arsenic
a day or two before to kill crows, alid
carelessly left it in the kitchen. A
blundering servant mistook it f6r salt,
and hence the fatal results. Only
those who partook of the chicken were
poisoied.
A DOUBLE CoLLIsIoN.-Early Mon.
day morning the passenger train on"
the Geotgla Central Railroad broke fu
half a mile from Macon. 'The steam
brakes stopped the rear half on the

followin telescoped the sleeper half
way, kili ng the engineer. The presi

Wadley, and the vice-president, Mr.
Raoul, were in the sleeping car but
escaped through windows. Several
of the passengers were hurt but none
fatally., A few minutes after the col

Into the middle train smashing the
cars into fragnsents. Engineer Crosby
of the train, was caught with his hand
on the lever which was reversed. He
was ,jammed against the hot boiler by
the freight car and lea p g over the

trains could not be checked. The
track has been cleared and trains are
again running.
