W6trtist- that our subscribers, as c they sell their'cotton, will remember l that a little money will be especially 'I accept~altle to as at this time. 'Remem- e bor, it is only two dollars to each sub- t scriber, but a good lump of money to a th3 pul1ishers.. a It was reported on Saturday that h Wallace would come to Winnsboro to' It inake a speech, and quite a number of d colorepeople were in town to hear him. A nuinber'of Democrats were f also on hand; but he came not. The n Radical Executive Committee met in S the colored Odd Fellows' Hall to fix C a time and.place for a visit fnom Wal- d lace anAl Blythe. A visit and a speech a from Wallace would be worth a thou- a sand votes to the Democracy in this t( county, and we hope he will not tarry e long. He will have as hospitable a reception and as safe an exit as he had e at Feastervillo four years ago this I month. Joe Thompson denies that he is - taking any active position in the can vass. He resigned the chairmanship b of the party and did not attend the I meeting of the Executive Committee 0 on Saturday. We are glad to hear i this. He has property, and he knows how much has been saved in taxes, and how much easier the times have become under Democratic rule. He is I itelligent enough to know, too, fi that the Democrats are not going to It let the State go back into Radical hands, and that they don't intend to h tve Blythe or McLane either to repre sent them ih Congress. If all the old leaders would step down and out as Joe Thompson says h has done, it would be bettor for everybody. They1 cihn make a great deal more in the cot- y ton field than in politics. NoTEB F.RO3EFEABTEEVIIL:E. The Weather and the Cotton Crop--PotIcal Gossip--The rimary and the Big Meeting. The people in general in this quar te are well, except the few suffering with chills, and are all hard at woed trying to gather as much cotton as pos sible while the weather is good. The. cotton crop bids fair to be good. I know some "croppers" on Mr. Thee. W. Traylor's place who had, up the first of October, gInned andl packed, t one six bales, another seven, another~ eight, to the plough. Those are -no "p)et farms," and we consider the yield very good. Our primary is over, and everything a is quiiet. -Of course every mrani did iiot elect his man, as there were uot quite enough candidates for every voter to get his choice. Now that we have our I candidates in the field, we must off with our coats and get down to the wvork of electing them. There is no halt-way ground. Politics Is getting to he of many varieties of late. We are constantly listening for the blow uip of our Greenback-Republican can didate for Congress from this DistrIet. c He can't stand it mutch longer. Nor ( can the candidate for Adjutant and I Inspector General on the same plat-. I form-the ex-sutler of the old* Sixth South Carolina Regiment. But with a a big Gook, they may be kept within< due bounds. Such men usually begin at the wrong end of the ladder and come down. We think there must be some mistake ', about the turnout of the different clubs t on tihe day. of the great Democratic C meeting. I have it from good authori- a ty that the Feasterville Club had forty- * three men in line, instead of -twenty.. I two as was reported. We hope this' ~Amistake will be corrected. * FEA8TERVILLE. . [We are sorr y if we were nisinformed , as to the number of redshirts in the e '~Feasterville 'Club ont thte day- of our I big meeting. The report came* to us direct from the chief marshal. It must be borne in niind that the members given had reference to .men ia re$ alurts, and not to the ntumber of mnen int the club raiuks. We should be i.a deed sorry to do injustice to so fine a SMclub as that from thme "Dark Corner.". SENATORt BUTLER AND ''EA (N WoonWAR.--Senator Butler Is now standing on hig ground. In his speech on Moday ho wouldn't repeat antt ande that contained a ba wor~d in ~t witou~t first excusing I himself to the ladles. The last accoumi of Col. Tom Woodward, of Fairfleh4 was to the effect that he was enghae in preparing a 8unday-school lecture. At ie mass meeting which followed ex udge T. H. The mass meeting which tok place in an oak grove near pringwood Cemetery immediately er the Copvention, was attended b bout eight hundred negroes, cincl ig women and boys and about six - undred' red-shirt Democrats, mostly o kounted.
