Being confined in the school-room
to hard study unoer the tutelage and
watchful eye of "Senex," it is quite a
recreation to return home on Friday
evening, to enjoy the pleasure of the
home-circle, preparatory to laking a
ramble on the day following over the
neighboring farms. ''he farmers here
complain of being somewhat back
ward and are now busy planting cot
ton. From every hill and vale you
can hear the familiar song "gee-liaw,"
interluded occasionally with the stroke
of the blacksmith's hammer, which i9
more harmonious to the ear of tle
farmer than the well-tuned piand of
Mrs. S. is to her class of juveniles.
