on Wedlesday, the eecasionl belling the

Williamsburg. The marriage cere

Obear, according to the chaste and
impllressive ritual of the Episcopal
Chhrch. The ceremon y over, the
bridal couple received the congrat.ula
tions of their friends, which were
heartily givenl and gracefully received.
After some little tine.spent in an inter
change of kind wishes and pleasant
social converse, the party dispersed.
The bridal pair left for Williamsburg
on the southerl-hound train Wednes
(lay afternoon. Our best wishes ac

the anniversary of the Gordon Light
Thfantry was begun on Monday night
with at p)ltue drill. A large audiece

the Gordons. It behig -found that
there was not space in which the en
- tire comnpanly could mnanouvre, the~
commiland was divided inito two squiads.
The~ first.division was then exercised
by Captain Jordan, and made a very
creditable showing. Then came thme
thme second squad, who also Alhowed
that they had not been losing time or
opportunuity to implrove. A few ofj
the men were now "dlroppedl," anid
the remainder next drilled as a slingle
squad. The process of "thinning out,"
was coiuhmed, until there remnained
four close completitors for the prize-I
Messrs. J. II. Cumuluings, J. Ii. HIar
din, I. B. McMaster anId T1. R. Rob
crtaon. They were now brought out,
-and after a brief contest, the judges
awarded the plumo to Sergt. T. R.
Robertson. The annoncment of the
result was received with applause, andt
Sergeant Robertson wvas called for
ward to receive inhe plume. The pro
sontation was made, on behalf of theI
judges, by Major Reynolds, who took t
.occasoon to compliment the corps and
the quecessful completitor up)on their
.proficlency, anld to express the 1hop)
that are another anniversary had p)ass
ed, the Gordons would show a still
higher degroce of proficIency in all that
conIstitutes tile true soldier. W hen the
ranuks were dismissed, three hearty
cheers were given for Sorgeant Robert
son, and the greatest good humor pre

The next thing oni the programme
was a "Hop," to which the many '
.friends of the Gordons had' previously
been invitedi. Before saying anything
ab)out the "Hop," we must mention the j
