nounce the death of Miss Ida Stewart,
only child of Mr. Turner Stewart,
which took lplac e near Ridgeway on
tihe . nmoring of the 22nd inst. She
was in the sixteenth year of her age,
and died of consumption. The mother
of this young lady died of the same
disease alaout a year ago. T1he afflict
ed husband and father has the sincere
sympathy of many friends.
0. L. 1.-The Gordons have comn
meneed preparations for the celebra
tion of their anniversary on the 13th
of April, and( are looking forwvard to
that day with considerable interest.

nicipal election at Ridgewvay passed
. oir very quietly. The cit.izens voted
genlerally, but in some instainces without
regard to the.entire ticket nomlinatedI at
the meeting of citizens already men
tioned. Dr. R. H. Edmunds with
drew his name. The following-named
gentlemen were elected:

W. M. Coleman.
There was a shooting miatchl in town
on Monday, In rear of the old Metho
dist church, under the direction and
management of the Shooting Club of.
Winnsboro. There were eighteen con
testants and ten shots wore allowed to
each of thoem. At the close it was
found that Messi's. J. W. McCants and
J. 8. Eldel' hal-ted for the fIrst prize,
each havidg rokoen eight out of theo
ten glas --alls -shot at; and it was
agreed to de'&deit by allowing eadh of
