A STRANGE THING.-We have often
read about strange .occurrences that
seemed almost Incredible; but thd fol
lowling fact fully verifies the trite say
lng, truth is stranger than fiction. One
day st week, Mr. John Patrick, of
White Oak, was having some blasting
done in his well, which was of a depth
of sixty feet. On descending the well
after one of the blasts had been dis
*charted, it was found that an i-on
wedge had been blown out of the solid'1
rook in which'It had been embedded.;
It was pieked out from the debris and
fr'agments of rock lying In the bottom
of the well, anid is niow in tihe possesS
sion of Mr. Patrick, still having .por
tions of the rock adheiring to it. Hlow
it came to be in the rock at a depthogf
sixty feet, we will not pretend to say ;
but there are witnesses of unimpeach.
