We are pleased to see f'oim our
correspondence that the Graded School
at Feasterville has already begun. Mr.
Busby, the principal, has been sne
cessfully engaged in teaching for
several years, laving been lately in
charge of Bethel Academy near Po

and Monticello will raise a spirit of
imitation in other parts of the county.

They have now in store a fine assort

been carefully selected with a view
to the vants of this particular mar

cverything usually found in a well

Bcaty & Co. make a specialty of the
"Bay State Shoe," and they invite an.
inspection of that article.
TiE IOVEMENT OF CoTrox.-Mr.

That tie Times is a paper of discern

tihe flct that we, like all great newr-!

it has got our geography wrolig, but

ALs'row, November 7.-Whilst at
Feasterville a Qev days since, 1 Iearni
ed that those people were making
adequate, practical efirts towards the
establishienit of a. permanent school of
the class known as ''graded." A
meeting had been held, and resolut
tions adopted to petition the nlext
Legislature to grant a supplementary
tax, suflicient to ri the school teni
months annually aiid to make the
tuition free, over an area of six miles
square with the school house as its
centre. Prof. D. I. Busby, whom I
have long and uniformly known as an
educator of the highest, rank, had been
securcd, and was then engaged as
teacher. Other steps in the right di
rection are contemplated. The whole
educational outlook Was certainly
cheering. ecasterville should be, anl
I don't dloubt, wih the granting of its
petition, wvill soon becomi ,the seat of
a highly prosperous school. A better
education I consider almost our only
hope. Thme above-mentioned act io'n
is, therefore, respect fully coinuded
to the notice of other places that have
been likewise 'suflbrinig educationally.

Thl e steamship Ch/amp ion, Capt. .R1
W. Lockwood, of thie Newv York and

three o'clock on Friday. -morning last
at the entrance to Delaware Bay, ant
immediately sank, carrying with her
thirty of the passengers aund crew.
T1hme necounts are that the voyage for
the fist tenm hours w as uneventful. Thie
passengers, among whomi were Mrs.
Col. A.. 0. Andrew's, of Charleston,
her (laughter, Miss Mikell, and Mr. J.

and saw a large full rigged ship bear

roverse the engine, b)ut the ship was so
near that before our headwvay was
checked wve wore struck. The whole
of the Champion's bows were stove in,
and the forotopinast and head of (lie

body to como on deck without waiting
to dress. I then ordered the second
