Cu.rANGE OF TEiLGRIAP(I OFFICE.
We are informed that the telegr'aphi
ofice Is to b~e removed from its presenst
central location to the freight depot.
Itf the Charlotte, Columbia and Augus- ~
ta Railroad Company have in view the
infliction of the greatest possible in- la
convenience upon those , who use the
telegraph, they certainly could not
find a place botter suited to such a
purpose. The freight depot Is almost
at the extreme southernecud of towvn.
Nobody ever goes there unless forced
by urgent business. The .present loca- f
tion of the telegraph ofmce is central,
andl convenient for everybody, and Is i
still to be used by the Company as a H
ticket office-a fact that makes the *G
change all the more remarkable. We at~
should perhaps not use the term s'e
mnarkcabe, for tho'Charlotte, ColumbIa T:
and Augusta lRailroad Company has
long been noted for 1$s entire lack of
any spirit of accommodation. Its Fi
managers are worthy gentlemen, as m
for as wve kaoiv but we have never T
yet heard -them charged with any of
great knowledge of~ the way to run a
railroad.-It is propOe to add that the E
Telegraph Coipanfis In no way re
sponsible for the chango ,of which we
have spoken. thec matter: is entirely
in the hands of theo.railroad people,
they paying the operator, and "bossing
the job" generally. 'We Would. sug. M
-gest some actiod1 by: the merchants, w
with a view to obtain the intervention g
of the Western Union Companly, and t
a removal of. thet office -back to its ~
central location.: It is certainly iin the
interest of the telegraph company to --
make the change, and they may be
able to bring the railroad. men to
