crnor1 Hampton met svi1~ *e serious
accident yesterday afternoon, while
out hunting deer, by which lie hind a
leg broken just above the nkle. 'The
Governioir had agreedl to meet some
friendis at at point ab)out sixteen~i miiles
firom Ci.oJmnnba for the puirpose of
driving deer, and wvhen lie reached tihe
camp, about three o'clock yecsterdlay
afternoon, he found that the p)arty had
all gone on a hunt. Knowinig the
stands and whore he was expected to
join In th.e hpjnt, the Governoi mount..
ed a large mule which had beenm left at
the campli 'and started to take his
positionu a few hy~n.dred yairds distant.
As coon as he arrived at thme place
designated for himt a deer came by in
full chase, and Governor l-Jamnpton
fired his gun, which frightened the
