SUDDEN DEATns.-Two suddon
deaths occurrod in Fairfield county
on Saturday, the victims being
youths just entering into manhood.
John Wiley, a son of Capt. John
Wiley, was seized with acute
rhoumatism on Saturday, the 14th
instant. Medical attendance was
called, and he seemied to bo improv
ing, and appeared so well on Satur
day that his father rode into town.
While here he received the sad news
that his son was dead. The rhou
matism had attacked his heart, and
lie died in few minutes. He was
burieo cin Sunday at Watereo
phurch.
On the sanie day, at two o'clock,
Andrew Mobley, third son of E. P.
Mobley, Esq., aged about fifteen
years, was at his father's gin house
pleaning a pistol which he. (1i not
1know was loaded. The muzzle was
turned towards him, and the weapon
was accidentally discharged, the ball
entering the abdomen and passing
entirely through the body. Every
thing possible was done to aya.o him
but withouttavail, an~d he died on Sat
graay night. He was conscious al
mnost to the last. His remains wocro
aiterred in the family burying
ground on his father's place.'

who deserves wvell of his country
men for the earnest, patient, self
sacrificing conduct of a privaito en
torprjse, fthe sqccess of which must
r'edound to the public good, that
man is Col. Asbury Coward, prilci..
pal of the King's Mountain Military
Academy, situated at Yorkvillo,, in
this State. Tihe institution over
which lie presides was established
by himself and the lamented Gen.
dficah Jenkins in 1855 as 9 pro
par'atory school to the State Mili
iary Academy. It supplied admnira,
bly a want that had been long felt,
and it rnet with abundant success
until the breaking out Qf the ivar,
wvhen professors 'and students aliko
took up arms in dofer.oe of their
coiyntry, and the institution was
,plosed. It was re-opened by Col.
Coward alone in 18G6, and ha's since
been kept up in the face of great
trials and disadvantages until the
present year, when our improved
condition restored a measure of
prosperity to the academy by enab
ling parents in all parts of the
$tate to avail th'emselves of its ad
vantages for the b'enefit of 'their
.sons. The town of Yorkville, where
the King's Mountaini lilitary
healthiest in the State. situated in a
cool, dry climato, and easily accessi
ble by rail. The aademy buildings
woro erected expressly for tho pur
pos for whi ch they are used, and
are admirably adapted for that end.
Col. Coward is himself a master of
tactics and mathematics, and ho
employs comp etont assistants in the
classics nnd modern languages and
oth6r branches of learning. But
the greatest advantago of sending a
boy to Yorkville, and one for which
no money can pay, is having him
always under the influence and con
trol of a high-tonod, honorablo man
whose oxample is ovor a living illus
tration of his precepts. It is grati
fying to know that Col. Coward's
mrits aro appreciatod, and that tho
King's Mountain Military Academy
is now pattronized by the best peo
ple in the Stato.
