For Salb-A fine country resi dence, with choice surroundings, etc. This frequently meang that the occupant wishes to regain hoalth ; because a residence in a malarial district will induce blood ppisoning, and hence disease. This can be most expeditiously counteracted by the prompt ac inistration of Dr. Bull's Blood Mixture. DEATH OF CoL. F. J. Ca.tEiON. Col. Feaster J. Cameron died at his residence in this county on Satur day night. Colonel Camerou was a eon o.f the late 11. G. Caniaron. For a numbgr of years he resided 3n Arkansas, where l4Qpractisd the profession of law with success. After the death of his father he returned to Fairfield, \yherQ he has since livsd. In 1876, Colonel Janeron was one of thQ can4idqtes on the Demopratic ticket for the Legislature, and during the cam paign he did yeoman service. The Radicals carried the county at the election, and Colonel Cameron re turned to private life. He was about forty years of age, a gentle inan of culture and ability aqd of genial temperament. Mqunt Zion School. The summer vacation of Mount Zion School is coming to a close. Exercises will be resumed during the first week in September. The public money was exhausted with the past five months' session, and the school will depend on the Pea body fui}d gf three hundred dollars and on private contributions for the balance of the year. It is estji.ated that the school can be run four months oil the sane basis as before }f the patrons will sibscribe about two hundred and fifty dollars, ex.. elusive of the extra tuition charged for the higher branches. As there were a hundred and fifty scholars in attendance last sessign, if all return the sum to be raised 'will l4p . very Rmall tax on each one-say an aver - age of two dollars each. The mean - ing of this is that for au avprage private expenditure of two dollars, each pupil will have received a course pf nine months' instruction. It is un necessary here to spealg of the. pharacter of that instruction. The new system saves a large siun of' ainoney annually. Under the rates charged by pay schools previously, .it would ha-ve ce9st at least $3,750 a .year to educate the white children of the town. Theograded dcboof wilt cost, includlitg the' extra branches and rent, about $1,600, of which $300 is given by the Peabody trusteee, leaving $1,300 against $3,750, a paving of $2,450, with better in struction, oigto teavnae arising from bayiigg a,11 tl,te pupile together. It is not argued that ~$3,750 was spent annually foF edu cation. It is a p)ainful fact that a pconsiderable numiber of children ptaid at home gunil ,his y r, It rests with the patrons of the school to say what shall be done,. wvhether the graded school sha~ll be ,come a permanent institu, tion,, or whetier the old sLtg of things shall return. We be.lieve there will be ~ut one respQnse. The best way to decide the <fuestion of raising -the money will be for the patrons to. .have a meeting to discuss it. Will' 4the officers of the Mount Zion So piety and the public.school trustees call a meeting of patro,pp con jointly ? Wot only should present wants 'be ,attended to, but some scheme should be devised, either by .the aid of legiEg Jation or otherwise, by which the .school may be made permanent. It *is a gratifying circumstance that ,already applidagions are cozping in from parties in the.country for the. admission of their childiep ,to the pcosol. By careful fostering, Mount ~Zion giay again attract patronage fr,om abi'oad.' In additiov to this, it is a fact as true as history. itself, that no people have ever made prop,er pro gress in civlliatio who have neg lected, and improparly perscuLd the domestic dumb brutes which belonged to them. Even savages have pvidenced the first dawn of semni-civilization - y an incrgaQiug desire to contribute to the comforts and necessities of the bruto com panions around thein, How appro p,ri:te, then, that I, who am more gifted than most of my race, and Who feel such great interest in the 'yelfaro of onr town, should be ileard in behalf of my people. The recent ordinance requiring that all dogs found in the treets without muzzles shall be incarcera ted in the guard-house for twenty four hours, and then shot, is in my opinio1 unwise and injust--unwise, beQausc it tends to increase, rather than abatQ, th? cispase rabies. Imagine, if you can, the myriads of pores all over the physical organiza . tions of our Council suddenly sealed a)out one o'clock on any of the sultry days which are now present with us-so completely closed as to prevent that most importan and healthful process of profuse p)erspi ration to which we are all subjected, and you will have some idea of the ills wihich we poo' dogs are now suffering. Unlike filthy man, we perspire only from the mouth, and not from the body generally, and henae the graat necessi ty of 'being able at all times and places to open our mouths and loll out our tongune. This cannot be done with nuzz'es on and all the beat "mid exhalations of the body, which would otherwise escape,.ip.st be r.ta,ingd= tqnding as they do to promote disease gen erally, and madness specially. We are therefore compelled to submit to a pr.Qcess which wotild rt}n the Council mad in two hours, and are then threatened with shooting if we do go ujad ; qr, in otler words, we are expected, poor dun brutes is we are, to oxi.ibit more patienee, forti tilde and philosophy than could be shown by our enlighten?d Council.
