4here is a curious story about some native
wines which are extensively advertised nowa
days, and have only recently been put upon
the market. Dr. Underhill, the well-knq.w,i
grape-grower of Ct o) Point, died in i8r.
,t9U ,9f his heirs entertained temperance
yiews of such extreme kind, that they were
unwilling to allow the stock of wines then on
hand to be sold or any more to be made.
The grapes have sometimes becn sent to
market, and sometimes left to decay upon
the vines. It is only nowv that the other heirs
have succeeded in arranging for a settlement
of the estate and the sale of the wines

"How long will you be able to

"Oh, till ho wears out. A man

Vo told him we didn't know, as
we hadp't been there.
"And you think Aloeck won't die
of any disease ?"
"Certainly not. He is a teuiper,

wears the parts aw.ay, and the tnaq
is obliged to die."
"Do you thiik y.otq could proservo

"Who is Conger t" said the Pro

you know"

"I reckon I could cure him as well
as anybody."
"But wouldn't the friction of hiu

"Oh, I thi1k not."
"Well, Professor, we will write tq

"You needn't do that," said thQ
Professor. "I am not peddling my

can get it at "
But before th Professor could
utter the fatll words, and thus
weave in an' advertisement, without
first calling at the business office,
the Post had gathered up its tools
and closed its ears. This last ope
ration the Professor 'itmnediately
mistook for a reappearance of thq

clouds still darkening the westerl
horizon.
