the crossing of the Delaware by
Washington, when in pursuit of
General Sir Henry Clinton, after the

A dual tragedy occurred on the
plantation of Mr. Samuel Horn, on
Beach Island, last Wednesday even-'
ing. Several pistol shots were
heard :early in the night in the
house of David Crawford, and par
ties who hastened to the spot foun~d
Crawford and his wife wel tering in
their blopd. The woman was dead,
and the man died soon afterwards.
Crawford had murdered his wife
and then shot himself, inflicting a
wound which caused his death. It
is suppoed that he was insane.
