TOTAL ABSTINENCE SK.Iti WINE TILL IT
RI1'ENS.
There is a curious story about some native
wines w hich are extensivelv advertised nowa
days, and have only recen'tly been put upon
the market. I)r. Cnlderhill, the well-known
grape-grower of Croton Point. died in 187t.
Sute of his heirs entertaintd temperance
views of such extreme kind, that they were
unwilling to allow the stock of wines then on
hand to be sold or any more to be made.
T1"he gtapes have sometimes been sent to
market, and cometiies left to decny upon
the t incs. It is only now that the other heirs
have succeeded in arranuging for a settlement
of the estate a:nl the sale of the wines on
hand. Among these i.; a wine of the vintage
of 186.4, described as a "Sweet Union 'ort,-'
but suggesting the Imperial Tokay more
than any o'her F.uropean wine, antl being
wholly unlike any other wine of American
growth. It.; putrity, age aid mellowness are
remarkahle, and both physicians and wine
fanciers have a special interest in it as the
oltes; native wine now accessible in any con
tid+lrah!": quntitv. The whole stock is~in the
h.inds of the well-known wholesale grocery
house of the Thurbers.-N. Y. Tribune,
Nov. 19, 1S77.
The above speaks for itself, but we would
add that this is the pure juice of the grape,
neither dru, ged, liquored nor watered; that it
has becn ripened and mellowed by age, and
for medicinal or sacramental purposes it is
-srpassed. It can be obtained from most
of the leading D)ruggists throughout the
U:nitedl States, and at wholesale from the
undersigned, who wvill forward descriptive
pamphlet, free of charge. on application.
Respectfully. etc.,
