Tho Monticello 1)enocratie Club hold a meeting on Sa.turday the 23d ult., which was largely attend ed for this season of the year, and much enthusiasm was manifested in the interest of Democracy and good governiment. Thme following preamble and reso. lutions were offered by Mr. H. M. Zealy : Whereas, We are upon the eve of anothei general election, and the administration of Governor Hamp ton having proven so benliicial to the State at large, and the political condition of the State being of such a nature. Therefore be it .Res old, 1. That we the mem bers of the Monticello Democratic Club do most heartily approve of the action of the Hampton govern mcnt. 2. That we urge our representa tives in the State Convention, to be held, to prtss the name of Governor Ham1pton for re election, believing, that under the existilng cillmn stianes, he is the only m1an1 wlio can rally the Democracy of the State in solid column 3. That the Monticello D)emo.. cratic Club begin at once to lAke ready for co iing Calmpaign, which, :fu;, will farever free the ; . South Carolina from the 1 Z. -t iftitfous gang of thieves and uu.,..th-idels who ilave di:graced the State and robbed her people for lo ! tlese llany years. 4. That as Governor la mi pon and the ilaiaent State ofllicers now iml powle are so nobly elevating our State to that high and honorable position, which she held before Grant put her under the hecels of corrupt Republican rule, we do most earnestly recommend to the Democratic party of the State the renomination of "Goveinor iialpton and the entire State ticket." There is a curious story about some nmatlve wines which are extensively advertised nowa. days. and have only recently been put upon the market. Dr. Underhill, the well-known gr ape-grower of Croton Point, died in 187r, Some of his heirs entertained temperance views of such extreme kind, that they were unwilling to allow thc stock of wines then on hand to be sold or any more to be made. The grapes have sometimes been sent to market, and sometimes left to decay upon the vines. lt is only now that the other heirs have succeeded in arrangintf for a settlement of the estate and the sale of the wines on hand. Among~ these is a wine of the vintage of 2864, described as a "Sweet Union Port," but suggesting the Im perial Tokay more than any other European wine, and being wholly unlike any other wine of American growth. Its purity, age and mellowness are remarkable,* and both physicians and wine fanciers l've a special inter'est in it as the oldest native wvine now accessible in any con siderable quantity. The whole stockis in the hands of the well-known wholesale grocery house of the Thurbers.-N. V, T'risu, Nov. 19, 19y'7. The above speaks for itself, but we would add that this is the pure juice of the grape, neither drugged, //gyared nor .uetsredt that it has been ripened and mellowed by age, and for medicinal or sacramental purposes it is unsurpassed, It can be obtained from most of the leading Druggists throughout the United States, and at wholesale from the undersigned, who will forward descriptive pamphlet, free of charge. on application, tRespectfully, etc., B.
