I am now thloroughlly !acquain ted,

By mainy who do nlot uniderstand

to the grand design of the gospel,

everywhere hearing his Leader's

Then, here and there lhe finds

of it. But a few evenings since, it
became more we~ity/ thlan ever,
when a host of friends (among
them r'epiesentatives of other de

and left us with hearts thankful to

TOTAL ABSTINENCE SAVING WINE TILL IT
RIPENS.
There is a curious story about some native
wines which are extensively advertised nowa
days, and hlave only recently been put upon
the market. Dr. U nderhill, the wveiI-known
gape-grower of Croton Point, died in 187r.
Some efh his hecirs entertained temperance
views of such extreme kind, that tihey werc
unwilling to allow the stock of wines t hc.1 on
hand to be sold or any more to be made.
The grapes have sometimes been sent to
market, and sometimes left to decay upon
tihe vIines. It is only now that the other heirs
have succeeded in arranging for a settlement
of the estate and thle sale of the wines on
hand. Among these is a wvine of the vintage
of z864j, described as a " Sweet Union Port,''
but suggesting the Imperial Tokay more
than any other Europecan wine, and being
'wholly unlike any other wilne of American
growth. Its purity, age and mellowness are
remarkable, and both physicians and wine
fanciers have a special interest in it as the
eldest native wine now accessible In any con
siderable quantity. Trhe whole stpck is in the
hands of the wel l-knowvn wholesale grocery
house of the Thurbers.-N. Y.~ TrilunE,
Nov. 19, 1A'77.
The above speaks for itself, but we would
add that this is tile pure juice of tile grape,
neither drugged, liguored nor seat'ered: that it
hasi been ripened and mellowed by age, and
for medicinal or sacramental purposes it is
unsurpassed. It can be obtained from most
of tile leading Druggists throughout the
United States, and at wholesalo from the
undersigned, who will forward descriptive
pamphlet, free of charge, on application.
