"Old Boroas" got loose yesterday, and made quito a blow. It would not surprise us if February and March havo agreed to exchange places this year. On account of the failure of the Columbia Register to reach us yes terday, we are unable to inform our readers of the doings of the Legis lature on Thursday. If our es teomed friends, the Register "folks," knew how provokinig it is to receivo their valuable paper irrogularly, we would probably not often have any ground to complain. We understand that a petition was forwardod from this place to Columbia on 1Wednesday afternoon last, asking the Giierl Assembly t0 re-elect ex-Ju1y3 Atok'y to the judgeshlip of th3 sixI!h circait. It was sigiol by siy-three citi:ons, forty odd from the town and the balance from the cointry. W givo this infori:ttion "withiut com nient." Political log-rolling is represent ed to be very active in Columbia just now, and it is r'eportedl that the candid rtes themselves for the vacant judgeships, or at least some of them are~ resorltin)g to personll cloctioneering. Snoh a sight must be dis;gusting in the extromoe, and it is surprising. that a logisluator can view suh thin:g without expoe'ienc. .ia feeling of utter contempt for the actors. ate editor, has been so occupied Maiords, Seain thathids,u healt ight become impaired, advised a change of atmosph're. He has, therefore, though with great reluctance, left us for a few days, in the hope that his drooping spirits may be revived, and fresh inspiration given him for the onerous duties of his dual voca tion.
