The Now York Post, an original abolition organ, makes tho follow ing frank acknowledgment respect ing Democratic home rule in South Carolina : "People who have been waiting for evidence to show that Governor Hampton, of South Carolina, was not sincere in the pledges which he made that exact justice would be done, so far as possible, by the Domocrats of this State towards all classes of citizens, or that lie would not be able to into effect his own wishes, are in a fair way to become discouraged. South Carolina out rages on colored men have ceased ; the taxes tre willingly paid, and State expensOs are largely reduced ; members of old rings are afforded fair trials, and when convicted the evidence against thom is so clear aq to leave no room for an honest ox cuso in their behalf, and when Rte, publicans take interest enough to bring out a majority vote-as has recently been the case-they elect their candidates without any unlaw.. ful opposition. "A striking illustration of the disposition of the Democrats of the State to enforco fair play, was seen in the State House of Representa.. tivos the other day. At a recent election in Sumter county the Ro publican candidate was found, when an informal count of the ballots was made, to have a majority. Some ruffianly Democrats, in order to prevent an official announcement of this result, stole and hid half the ballot boxes, and the election offi cers reported the facts to the Leg. islaturo, with a statement that the Democratic candidate had a majori ty of the votes in their possession. Thle Representatives thereupon, re fusing all efforts to seat the Demo.. cratic candidate or to declare the Cloction void, gave the seat Ito the .Republican. Verily, a now order of things has boon established in that long suffering State." It is now an acknowledged fact that CONsUMP~TION cAN BE CUlRED. It has heen cured in a very great number of cases (some of them apparently desperate ond by Schcnck's Pul1s monic Syrup alone, and in others by the samie medcine in connection wvithi Schonck's Sea Weod Tonic and Mandrake Pills, one or bosh accord ing to the requirements of the case. The old1 suppoitioni that "Cons% sumption is incurable," for many years deterred Physicians from at tempting to find a remedy for that disense, and p)ationts aillic ted with it reconciled themselves to death without an effort being made to save. them from a doom which was con sidered inevitable. Dr. Schenck himself was supposed at one time to be at the very gate of death, his phlysicia.ns having pro nounced his case hopeless and abandoned him to his fate he was ou REn by tile aforesaid medicines and afterward enjoyedc uninterrupt ed good health for more than forty years. Thousands of poeoplo have used Dr. Schoneck's p)reparations with the same romarkable success. Schonok's Almanac, containing a horough treatise on Consumption, Liver Complaint, Dyspepsia, &c., can be had gratis of any druggist, or of J. H. Sehenck & Son, Philadelphmia. Full directions for the use of Schenck's medicines accompany each package. Schenekc's Pul monie Syrup, Sen Weed Tonic, and Mandrake Pills are for sale by all druggists., * The State of South Carolina, OOUNTY OF FAIRFIELD. B?y O. R. T HOMPSON, Esqs, Probale JYudUe.
