A The New Year opened with nino teen prisoners in tho Abbeville jail. Some half dozon or more farmers with their families have recently come over from Darlington county and rented or purchasod lands in Kershaw. Holnry Williams, the colored man who identified and helped to arrest Niles G. One night last week, an aged negro woman, living in the Antioch neighborhood, in Kershaw county, was shot and severely wounded by some unknown person, several shot lodging in her shoulder and side. It appears that she had opened her door for some purpose, when the gun was fired. .A bold robbery was perpetrateid just across the Savannah several weeks ago by an organized band of robbers fromn Abbeville county. Seven bales of cotton were stolenl from Alex. Blackwell, a Georgia farmer. The cotton has never been recovcred, but the evidence against the thieves is accumulating, and they will shortly be in the hands of the law. There is no excitement whatever in Union county over the latt alleged 'interference with United States rmarshals, about which se muich fuss has been made. The perrons accused of the alleged offence are prepared to surrender to the proper authorities on lawful sumcnions, and Amx confident of aggntittal of any charge of resist atee:to the-law.
