compliment from the Hon. TliomaB
Ewing. Still later he was rejoiced
to learn that the ruling of the Sn
p erior Court in the Simmons case
ad been reversed and a now trial
ordered.

THE PAMILY.
The marriage has been blessed
with eight childron-sovon boys and
a girl. Fivo of the children are
living. The oldest, I irchard A.
Hayes, is aged twonty-four ; Webb
C. Hayes is twonty,ono; Ruther
ford P. Hayes ninotoen ; Miss Fan..
nio Hayes, ten years, and the baby,
Scott Hayes, is six years old. With
the exception of Scott, the others
living were born in Cincinnati.
The President is now in his fifty
sixth year, and Mrs. Hayes is in her
forty-seventh year.
THE SILVER WEDDING
was of a private nature, only a few
personal friends wero present, the
Cabinet alone attending oflicially.
Other than the floral decorations
supplied by the greenhouso attached
to the mansion there was no attempt
at display. Lottors were: received
from many'prominent people extend
felicitations on the ann-ivorsary of
their marriage, and wlitt, was ro
markable was the large number of
offers to unite sentientally with
the President on the 30th and 31st
ult. in colobrating silver weddings
which happened to fall upon those
same days.

brie, and yet lasts long on the hair,
giving it a rich glossy lustre and a
