The Fairfield boys think that the
Columbia water is not conducive to
good shooting. It affects the eyes.
Mad dogs have been ongondering
quite a stir among the other dogs
in the vicinity of Foasterville and
Shelton's Depot, in the last month.
The kitchen of D. R. Coleman
with all its furniture and one bale
of cotton was destroyed by fire last
week-the cooking stove being the
evil agent.
All communications, qf whatever
nature, intended for this paper,

The Grange at Feasterville, it is
said by some of its oldest members,
had, on the 17th inst., the best
meeting since its organization. It
is now out of debt and has consid,
erable money In its treasury. Its
prospects are bright.
The Universalists at Feasterville
have now a living church. It was
lately organized with twenty-five
members. D. R. Coleman, J. A. F.
Coleman and V. P. Clayton are its
deacons, J. C. Feaster its treasurer,
and J. Hendrix McLane, clerk.
The membership is taking steps to
influence the county commissioners
to grant no licenses for the sale of
liquors in that vicinity. Rev. ). B.
Clayton, of Columbia,- on the 11th
inst., preached a powerful sermon
in defence of their creed against the
assaults of some other denomina
tions upon the Universalist doc
trine.
A DISTINGUISHED GUE&T.-Mr. 1.
P. Kimball, of Illinois, camne to
Winnsboro on Saturday morning,
and remained over till Monday,
being the guest of Maj. T. W. Wood
ward and Col. Jas. H. Rion. He re~
ceived a number of other invitations
which his limited time prevented
him from accepting. A number of
citizens called on him, and w ore
much le~ased with his affability and
his liberal sentiments. Mr. Kim
ball expresses himself as delighted
with his cursory visit to South
Carolina, and predicts that she has
a glorious future before her.
Major Wood ward was determnined
that the "Winnebago Chief" should
be captLured, and that his scalp
should adorn the den of the "boss
ku-klux of Fairfield." For that
reason he brought him up from
Columbia. Before his departure,
he presented him with a tomahawk
that once belonged to the Florida
Indian Chief, Ya-ha--ha-jo, who was
killed in the Seminole war of 1886,
by the Fairfield company, in the
first skirmish. The full account of
the capture of this trophy was given
by Dr. T. T. Robertson, one of the
party that slew the chief.
Major WV. thinks there are one or
two things yet wanting to thorough
ly acquaint his distinigished guest
with the workmngs of a Southern
plantation ; but minor detilsi must
be reserved for a future visit. Mr.
Kimball left on Monday for Charles,
ton, wvhere he will be introduced to
the magnificent scenery up the
Ashley, and will inspect the opera-e
tions of the phosphate manufacto.
ries.

No Enjoyment Without Health.
O F all the property we own in the
world, that whioh demands the
greatest care is our own bodies. Better
lose houses, lands, balances in the bank,
anything that represents wealth, than
the strength, vigor and elasticity of the
physical frame. The dyspeptic, the bil

enjoy the gifts of fortune. Happily,
however.- dynnopsia, billiousness and
