petitors. At a late hour, the Ninth
Annual Fair was announced as
closed, and the thousands who had
thronged the grounds all day slowly
wended their way homeward.
The Society at its annual meeting
elected Col. B. F. Crayton, of
Anderson, President.
COURT TOPICS.
On Saturday morning Judge
Townsend heard the argument on
the motions for a now trial in the caso
of Cardozo and Smalls, and finally
overruled the motions. A motion
in arrest of judgment was then made
and argued ; and the Court r.
nerved its decision.
About a dozen prisoner, recoived
various sentences from six monthls
in jail up to fifteen years in the
penitentiary ; and the Court of
General Sessions adjourned.
